چکیده

Objective: To compare the accuracy of periapical radiography (PR) and cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) for detection external apical root resorption (EARR) due to canal contamination. Material Methods: Dog’s teeth with experimentally induced contamination underwent or not treatment (n=62). True positives (TP), false (FP), true negatives (TN), (FN) in PR CBCT diagnoses were determined using histopathologic findings as gold standard. Sensitivity, specificity, positive predictive value (PPV), negative (NPV), diagnostic (TP + TN) diagnosis EARR calculated. Data compared chi-squared test (α=0.05). Results: was detected 35% roots by PR, 47% CBCT, 50% microscopy (p=0.03 versus microscopy; p=0.67 microscopy). Overall, produced more accurate than (p=0.008). allowed identification large 100% cases showed same accuracy. However, small resorptions, an 0.83, whereas 0.96 (p=0.003). Conclusion: Cone-beam higher detecting endodontic origin.

Accuracy of cone beam computed tomography and panoramic and periapical radiography for detection of apical periodontitis.

The aim of this study was to evaluate the accuracy of imaging methods for detection of apical periodontitis (AP). Imaging records from a consecutive sample of 888 imaging exams of patients with endodontic infection (1508 teeth), including cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) and panoramic and periapical radiographs, were selected. Sensitivity, specificity, predictive values, and accuracy of per...

Comparison of cone beam computed tomography and digital radiography in detection of pulpal exposure in external cervical root resorption

Background and Aims: Pulpal exposures originated from the external cervical root resorptions have major effects on the treatment and prognosis. Therefore, the aim of this study was performed to compare the two different imaging systems-digital radiography with PSP (Photostimulable Phosphor) sensor in three horizontal different views and CBCT (cone beam computed tomography) images to assess the ...

Long-term evaluation of apical root resorption after orthodontic treatment using periapical radiography and cone beam computed tomography.

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the frequency of Apical Root Resorption (ARR) after orthodontic treatment at 52-288 months using periapical radiography (PR) and cone beam computed tomography (CBCT). METHODS Radiographic images obtained from 58 patients, before (T1) and after orthodontic treatment (T2), and following 52-288 months of treatment were analyzed by three members of the Brazilian Board of Ort...

Accuracy of digital periapical radiography and cone-beam computed tomography in detecting external root resorption

PURPOSE The purpose of this study was to evaluate and compare the efficacy of cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) and digital intraoral radiography in diagnosing simulated small external root resorption cavities. MATERIALS AND METHODS Cavities were drilled in 159 roots using a small spherical bur at different root levels and on all surfaces. The teeth were imaged both with intraoral digital ...

Cone beam computed tomography study of apical root resorption induced by Herbst appliance

OBJECTIVE This study evaluated the frequency of root resorption during the orthodontic treatment with Herbst appliance by Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT). MATERIAL AND METHODS The sample comprised 23 patients (11 men, 12 women; mean ages 15.76±1.75 years) with Class II division 1 malocclusion, treated with Herbst appliance. CBCT was obtained before treatment (T0) and after Herbst treatme...
